For those seeking sanctuary from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, High Barton is a place to relax, recharge and refocus.

Set above Ullswater, England’s most beautiful lake, and commanding truly magnificent views over the surrounding fells, we have created a contemporary, well-designed living space within the context of a traditional, Lakeland dwelling. Bold, inspiring colours on the inside mix with the soft hues of local stone on the outside to create a truly unforgettable escape from routine.

We have just two rooms available,  so you can be absolutely sure that you will always be ‘far from the madding crowd’. Our ensuite double rooms are your overnight haven while breakfast is served with a panoramic lake view. You couldn’t really class High Barton as a typical B&B; we don’t have tea and coffee making facilities in your room but we do offer you complimentary afternoon tea on arrival and as many refills as you like during your stay with us; we don’t have a breakfast menu, just a conversation as to what you fancy; we take the Swedish approach to shoes in the house – please wear your slippers; however we do have WiFi, flat screen televisions in each bedroom, reasonable rates from £49.50 per person per night – and of course – a very warm welcome.

With many of the Lake District’s top attractions just a short drive away, after a busy day taking in the tourism hotspots or better still out on the fells,  the house offers plenty of space to rest and recover – not to mention a full size snooker table. Whatever you’re after, High Barton is quite literally a ‘diamond’ in the rough and rugged northen landscape.
